October 19-23, 2020

Please remember there will be NO SCHOOL Friday October 23.

The bible verse to be recited on 10/22 will be "F" Fear not: for I am with thee   ~ Isiah 43:5

PLEASE remember to send in the $25 classroom supply fee if you have not done so yet.  Also, PLEASE remember to send in headphones for your child so they will have them during our ipad time.

Reminder: We have library every Tuesday.  In order for your child to check out a new library book they must have their book from the previous week to do so.

 Have a blessed weekend!!

Sunday, October 11, 2020

October 12-16, 2020

The bible verse to be recited on Friday 10/16/2020 is "E" Even a child is known by his doings
 ~ Proverbs 20:11

The class has been working hard on learning what a blend is (a consonant and a vowel put together) A blend helps the students read more quickly by showing how two sounds move smoothly from one letter to the other.  In addition to our "T" blends they've also learned the "L" and "B" blends.  In your students take home folder you will find these along with a few others we will be learning in the upcoming weeks.  I will continue to keep the current blends in their folders so you can practice at home if you wish to do so.

We are sailing right along with our numbers as well.  A few of the main concepts we've focused on is number recognition up to 11, accurately counting from 1-20 independently, recognition of a penny and its value, before and after, and properly writing numbers 1-4.  Of course we've touched base on several other things but the ones mentioned have been our main goal.
We will begin discussing "greater than" or "after numbers" along with "less than" or "before numbers."  Also, ordinal numbers will be introduced as well.

Please, if you have yet to send in headphones for your child or if you have yet to send in their $25 classroom supply fee, please do this as quickly as possible.

I'd also like to encourage you once again to check your child's take home folder daily. I'm trying to be diligent about posting all information in class dojo as this seems to be our strongest line of communication as a whole.  I'm missing the person to person conversations because I feel so strongly about keeping a clear and open line of communication with my parents. So in saying that,  please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I will be certain to post messages in dojo and I also post information on our classroom blog at least once a week.

Lastly, on every Friday starting this week (10/16/20) we will be doing show and tell.  I would enjoy seeing them bring in an item that begins with one of the consonants we have learned for the week.  This week the consonants will be "N" and "M".  Please make sure their item is no larger then something they can fit in their backpack.  Also, we are not allowed to bring any form of a weapon such as guns, knives ect.

Thanks so much!

Friday, October 2, 2020

October 5-9, 2020

The bible verse to be recited on Friday 10/9/2020 is "D" Depart from evil, and do good.  ~Psalm 34:14

We have now learned all of the vowels and their sounds.  We also learned our first consonant (T). Now that we have started on our consonants we will be blending our consonants and vowels together.  Keep a watch on your child's take home folder for new info to help them with this new concept.

I'm very proud of how well and how hard the kids have been working. If anyone would have any questions or concerns please always feel free to let me know!!

I hope you have a great weekend!!

September 14-18 2020

Hello Everyone! I have several things I would like to share with you.  Please make sure to check your child's folder each day for any papers and important notes.

Each week they will be learning a new bible verse. Every Friday the students will have to individually recite the verse to me for a grade.  We will practice the verse in class all week long but i will also send it with them if you would like to practice at home as well.

The bible verse for the week of 9/14 - 9/18 will be "A" All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.  ~Romans 3:23

Students are required to have tennis shoes in order to participate in gym.  Each student has a cubby for their shoes if you would like to leave a pair at the school.

If your student has an electronic device we encourage you to send it with them.  We will have "ipad day" every Thursday.  If your student doesn't have a device the school will have one available to use.

We will have library every Tuesday and your student will be allowed to check out a book to take home.  Please send the book back weekly because they will be required to have it in order to exchange it for a new one.

If you haven't yet connected to Class Dojo please try to this so we are able to easily communicate with each other.

I hope you have a blessed weekend!!!
